winter, spring, summer or fall?
Well the times they are a changin’. The sculpture exhibition, which is what this blog is all about, will now take place in October 2016 not March. Which gives me plenty of time to complete sculpture number 6 which will be based on this model in the NMMC collection.

Consult the coracle
The last 10 days or so have seen me make good progress on the coracle theme and at the same time begin a sixth sculpture.
Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Marvin Gaye or getting it on. I just can’t stop singing it in my head. Especially when things are going well.

Continuing the research – but it’s hard!
Writing this aboard my research vessel onda calor, in St George’s, Grenada. Havent thought about sculptures for days now but made good progress before taking this holiday.

The long and winding road ……
I’m at the end of a long weekend where I have worked non-stop on the fourth sculpture. I’m nearly finished.
The capping rail still looks like a capping rail but look closely and you can see it has been sawn into 84 pieces!
What happens when your belt breaks?
Well, essentially your trousers fall down or your belt sander stops going round. Both would be frustrating and prevent any more progress for the day. I kept my trousers on and had to come in from the workshop to order a couple of new drive belts. It did give me the chance to prepare some drawings for sculpture number 4.
Nightmare on Elm street
Yesterday I rescued sculpture number 3 from outside the museum workshop and brought it inside. I learnt two things about its origins.

From transoms to spirals
It’s been a week of four quarters. Some carving outside which was stopped by the rain, some mundane sanding inside which was stopped by boredom, a little tourism to see the mermaid of Zennor and finally some thinking about sculpture number 4.
