Saw three Js out of my window today. They had black wings and moved like a squadron of aircraft.
Decided to get aggressive this morning. Went to my workshop and sawed off the base of the sculpture. Had to use a hacksaw to cut through a couple of screws. I didn’t intend to ever take this thing apart
Sheila asked me last night in the pub how I got my ideas for sculptures and it made me think. Just got back from a few days camping and kayaking in Padstow where I managed to not think creatively at all. Wondered if it would inspire me to think once I got back.

Sorry but it is the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival this weekend. So how is the project going? Very slow and time consuming but somewhere in these photos is an emerging sculpture.
Met up with Mike and Carol today – which reminds me…….
Thanks, Mike, for getting me into this fine mess. (Mike invited me to make the first Viking figurehead – Norman – who you have met already in The Proposal). Here’s Mike who is a lot better looking than Norman.
Just reflecting on the nature of making unusual objects like sculptures. I’m struggling today.
Had a close look at some pieces of boat keel that have been offered to me for my sculpture project. I think they might be made of teak and they are huge. Too heavy to even turn over. They have been left in scrubland for years and so the undersides are rotting away. They are also full of hidden metal fittings – a carpenter’s nightmare.
Just collected some large pieces of tulip wood from a local supplier ready to begin construction of, what I’m calling, my first sculpture.
Actually woke up this morning and rethought the current sculpture a little. Spent part of the day in my own workshop.
